On the path that my lover
took, a dark, coarse-skinned elephant
stretches its large trunk and drinks
all the water from a mountain spring,
as his female runs on the opposite side
in the parched forest wasteland,
where an old chameleon that changes
colour tries to climb a nearby tall yā tree,
after listening to the music of a bard.
