Ainkaran’s Dawn Theme

I’m listening back to this piece I released a year ago in January 2019. For those of you who don’t know, I stopped playing the violin and performing publicly on stage/in media around 2005-2006, around the time I was in a very bad place in my life. As writing took more of a front seat to pull me back up, I played violin intermittently at home between then until 2015, when I plucked up the courage to post a clip of me playing online. There was a return to house concerts before a return to music compositions and the stage / theatres.

I used piano, clarinet, Carnatic violin, Western classical violin and strings orchestra to convey an opener of any kind with this one.
I’m particularly proud of this score theme, called Ainkaran’s Dawn Theme, not only because composing with counterpoint on instruments that are new to me, such as piano, was not easy and was outside my comfort zone, but because it represented a new beginning for me.

Violin Arangetram 2002 flashback

Hi all! To celebrate having my official website for a few years now, I wanted my first blog post here to recapture a memory of one of my early milestone stage performances for you online! This is a flashback to 2002 and my Violin Arangetram at Harrow Arts Centre in London under the tutelage of my violin guru Dr. Lakshmi Jayan. Accompanied by wonderful co-artists and rasikas, these photos bring back many cherished memories. While this was not my first ever stage performance, I’m fairly sure it was my first television broadcast one. Here’s to many more performances!
